A place to buy my stuff

My good friend Lisa from High school works at the COC Art Gallery and has agreed to showcase some of my jewelry pieces. If you are in Valencia please go check them out!

This is really exciting for me as this is my first attempt at selling stuff in a boutique like environment.
The prices of the pieces will probably range from $35 to $100 so there is a price point for everyone.

Here are some samples of what is being sold there.

Amber and Green agate silver cross necklace for Matt

This was a special request.
It turned out great!

Matt had given me a broken cross pendant and I had to use the torch on it and fix it.
I had a lot of fun repairing the jewelry piece.
So now I can take sterling silver pieces and alter them to use in my jewelry, Very exciting.
I don't know why I don't get on the torch more often. Well anyway I also created the circle pice and the clasp as well.

I have started an Etsy site!

I need to find a better way to spend my time making money so I'm not slowly go mad working in a non creavie environment.

My new etsy site is called ThreeLittleOwls and hopefully soon I will have product up there to sell.

I'm planning on sellling photo prints, paintings, wood burned items, jewelry, functional art pieces, trinkets and whatever else I can get my mind to make.

I need to make:

  1. business logo banner
  2. business cards and tags
    mailers
  3. paypal business account
  4. yahoo small business website
  5. business bank account seperate from my regular account
  6. Make product too duh!

My current job is hopefully going to let me work from home 2 days a week so I can still do my job and maybe get some creative time in to get this store launched and working. Hopefully someday I can ween myself away from working for someone else and completely work from home.

    That is my goal!

    So, any suggestions?

Smoke and mirrors but no smoke

So the art show was a success.

The smoke machine didn't work though. Hence the tittle but it was still awesome.

There was a huge turnout, we even had the token wino passed out on the sidewalk in front of the gallery, and the person that i wanted to come most of all (Byron) came, everyone else I invited either didn't show witch is cool (I know people are scarred to drive to downtown) or did show but only hung out for a little bit because the Alcohol ran out (priorities.) Best thing about that was someone went out and bought a bunch more.

But anyway, the art show created hype (we all got really great feedback,) brought people together, and gave us all a great sense of accomplishment. Nick and Erik did a great job putting it together and Kendall is a Saint for letting us invade his art gallery.

Molly From Vivi Dot also made us some kick ass pins to hand out at the show. I will take pictures and post some of those soon too.

Hopefully I will have some pictures to post soon. I took some with my Holga and new Holga flash!
This should become an annual thing though I expect that this has lit a spark of creativity between all of us and I presume that we will be putting other gallery shows together, this time with more art and more more more.

Bette also took some pictures on her Blog. I would check them out if you want to see some pictures of the art on the walls and such.

Here are two pictures I showed since I don't have pictures of the gallery opening to show right now.

Holga

Finally got a flash and 5 rolls of velvia slide film for my Holga.

I also found a place about 20+ miles away that will cross process my slide film. Amazing! You think that living in LA I would find something closer.

It pisses me off a little. I try not to be too mad these days. I want to let things go or I'll end up having terrible health problems forever.

I hate that I go to a small 1 hour photo and they tell me that i should go digital. "You can do so many different things and it's so much easier!"

When did I ever say I wanted it to be easy. If it was easy I'd stop. As soon as the challenge is gone I get disinterested. I don't want perfect lighting and unlimited ISO. I want to work with what i have and If only one picture comes out amazing then It's one amazing picture and not 200 pictures of boring!

I have regressed (as so many would call it) to film because I want ritual, I want interaction, tangibility, process and the inevitability of excitement!

They say it's inevitable that film will be obsolete, I say, If film ever becomes obsolete that's like saying paint will become obsolete to digital media!

I do not want to be part of that. I refuse.

MRA Art Show

So I have been painting some things for the art show, and I am really pleased with what I have been able to make. For some reason I have been into painting still life. A pickle, dohnut, cheese wedge, mushroom, artichoke, and a pear. I also painted a street light, and I am turning two paintings I made for cameron into one with a lazy susan behind it so you can turn it around and change the perspective. I am also planning on taking some pictures this weekend with the Holga Matt gave me, and some polaroids as well. Hopefully these wont turn out blurry like the other ones I've taken.

I will take some pictures and post them up soon.
